HA Home Care is Medicare-certified and accredited by ACHC. We bill Medicare directly for eligible services, and our office will help you understand your coverage before care begins.
If you or a family member is coming home from the hospital, recovering from surgery, or managing a condition that makes leaving home hard, Medicare may cover skilled care at home at no cost to you. Here is how it works, in plain language. The official rules are on Medicare.gov, and our office is happy to walk you through them: (818) 745-1157.
Medicare Part A or Part B covers home health care when you are under a doctor's care with a plan of care your doctor reviews regularly, your doctor certifies that you need intermittent skilled nursing or physical, speech or occupational therapy, and your doctor certifies that you are homebound. A doctor or certain other practitioners must also see you in person within the 90 days before, or the 30 days after, care starts.
Leaving home takes a considerable and taxing effort, for example you need a cane, walker, wheelchair or another person's help, or your doctor advises against leaving because of your condition. You can still leave for medical care and for short, infrequent outings such as a religious service or a haircut.
Part-time or intermittent skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, medical social services, and part-time home health aide services while you are also receiving skilled care. Medicare does not cover 24-hour care at home, meals delivered to the home, or homemaker and personal care services when that is the only care you need.
For covered home health services, you pay nothing. For durable medical equipment such as a walker or hospital bed, you usually pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after the Part B deductible.
Medicare Advantage plans cover home health care too, but each plan has its own rules and often needs prior authorization. Our office will check your plan and coordinate the authorization before care begins.
Medi-Cal covers limited home health services when hands-on skilled care is provided, you are homebound and the care is medically necessary. Private insurance depends on your carrier and policy and usually needs pre-authorization. Our office helps with both.
Home health care needs a physician's order. Ask your doctor or your hospital discharge planner to refer you to HA Home Care, or call us and we will reach out to your doctor.
Our office confirms your Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medi-Cal or private insurance coverage and handles any authorization before the first visit.
A clinician assesses you at home and builds a plan of care with your physician. Visits follow that plan, and a Registered Nurse is on call after hours.
Our office can check your Medicare or insurance coverage before care begins.
